Back in 2004 I started thinking that it was going to be important to invest. The motivation at the time was not having enough money to enjoy a holiday around New Zealand at the time, and I knew something had to change. I spent a few years learning about property investment in NZ, and became quite knowledgable about it. I had lots of high hopes and plans for my future.
But then I moved back to Australia in early 2007, and life got in the way of my plans to invest. And now here in 2015, as I’ve been sorting through the past 16 years of writing, I’ve been reminded of the investment knowledge I gained and was excited about from 2004 to 2007.
Unfortunately, I’m not going to be able to consider investing until next year, and then I can start moving forward with some big plans.
I need to have a somewhat aggressive investment strategy in the future, because I know that what I do with investments is going to be preparing me for retirement in 20 years time. I need to make sure I do it right, so that my investments ensure a comfortable retirement. My life has been one where I’ve not been able to consider superannuation as a retirement pension, and I don’t want to rely on the government for handouts. Property investment is the only option.
From 2004-2006 I learnt a lot about property investment in NZ. From 2015-2017 I’m going to learn a lot about property investment in Australia, so I can actually do something with that knowledge.
