I wrote about finding out about my job application over here, but then with leaving for holiday the very day after finding out, I completely forgot about mentioning it on this blog. I actually thought I had, until Chancelucky just asked me about it, and when I tried to find the relevent post, I found nothing! I’m very sorry!
I didn’t get the job, and I didn’t write about it at the time because the manager told me that possibility, while slim, still existed that his first choice might not accept the offer, so it was still up in the air. It wasn’t finalised until probably the 20th Dec or thereabouts, when I got a text saying the successful applicant had accepted the offer.
A positive from it was that I came second out of close to 20 people. I was the only internal applicant to do so. And, as a result of my ‘successful’ interviews for the management position, I’ll be held in high regard should I wish to apply for any new team leader/management opportunities that arise over the next few months.
With the transition that’s occurring as Computerland is integrated into Gen-i, the other company that Telecom bought, and which is now going to be our trade name, there are going to be opportunities popping up all over the place. Large teams of people are likely to be made into smaller teams of people. The same people, just bunched up into smaller teams. This means there will be more opportunities for team leaders to come out of this transition.
So future opportunities are still positive. đŸ™‚
