It’s said that humans use only about 10% of their brains – what would we be capable of if we could use 20%, or 50%, or even 100% of our brains? The movie LUCY attempts to answer that question.
It’s a movie, not a documentary, so I’m not sure how reasonable some of the assumptions within it are. But as a movie, it’s pretty damn good. I’d give it 8/10 for the quality of sci-fi action. It was an exciting and intriguing journey through the evolution of LUCY’s brain over a 24 hour period, and the possibilities of what a human can do if our brain capacity improves.
What I enjoyed most of all was the exploration into what we could do with our minds if we could overcome the blockages that exist in it, which limit our capacity to think and to experience life and the universe itself.
We live in a state of limitation and fear because of our feelings, and our susceptibility to pain. What could we do if we weren’t affected by pain? What could we achieve if we weren’t held back by our fears of being hurt? What could be possible if we could explore the broader range of our senses?
I’m going to have to watch it again – maybe a few times – to get more of an understanding about some of the concepts being presented in the movie, but it was one of those thought-inspiring movies that invite you to watch it again and again to get your head around it. Some of the things explored in the movie relate to our place in this universe, and how time is the only true measuring tool, but how time is not something that needs to restrict us.
At least, not when your brain capacity is high enough to understand it.
She makes a comment when someone says they would rather be late than dead: “We never really die.” I like that this movie explores some of the concepts of quantum physics that I discussed back in We’re all going to live forever.
I recommend you see it. At the very least you’ll enjoy a good movie. (Unless you don’t like that kind of movie, or you don’t believe in such interpretations and theories of quantum physics, in which case I recommend you stay well away from it – you’ll hate it). Here’s the trailer for you to check out.
